Quincy mayoral candidate Bill Phelan announced June 1 that he has hired Emily Hajjar to serve as campaign manager for his 2015 race.
“Emily’s educational background, her commitment to public service, and her Quincy roots make her a great fit for this position,” said Phelan. “With my campaign team now in place, I look forward to connecting personally with as many Quincy voters as I can before the September primary,” Phelan added.
Hajjar has served in roles related to public policy and political campaigns with Congressman Stephen Lynch and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. While attending UMass Amherst, Hajjar was elected Vice President of the undergraduate student body, and competed as a Division I athlete for the UMass Women’s Rowing team. Hajjar is a lifelong Quincy resident.
“Bill Phelan has been a role model for me,” Hajjar said. “I am inspired by Bill’s commitment to the people of Quincy and look forward to helping Bill with Quincy’s comeback.”
