John T. Dougan, age 80, of Weymouth, formerly of Braintree and Dorchester, died peacefully, Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the Carney Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Boston on July 16, 1936, to the late John H. and Margaret (MacDonald) Dougan. He was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston English High School, Class of 1954, and attended Northeastern University.  He had lived in Weymouth for ten years and previously many years in Braintree.

He was employed as a salesman for the Sunbeam Bread Company for over thirty years. John had also worked as a manager for the former Elm Farm and Blair’s Supermarkets in Boston.

John was an avid Boston sports fan and especially enjoyed the New England Patriots. As a young man he had played baseball in the Dorchester Park Leagues.

Beloved husband of Nancy M. (Buckley) Dougan. Devoted father of John R. Dougan, Captain, Quincy Police Dept., and his wife Mary Ellen of Abington, Marjorie A. Bransfield and her husband Steve of Weymouth, Mary T. Flagg and her husband Paul of Plymouth, Jane M. O’Mahony of Braintree, Daniel M. Dougan and his wife Jill of Abington.

Loving grandfather of Kelly Collins and her husband Chris of Hanson, Michael Dougan, Quincy Police Dept., and his wife Lisa of Quincy, Susan Quirk and her husband John of Randolph, Steven Bransfield of California, Julianne Bransfield of Weymouth, Paul Flagg of Florida, Joseph Flagg of Plymouth, Christine O’Mahony of Braintree, Molly and Jessica Dougan both of Abington. Cherished great grandfather of Riley and CJ Collins, Ryan and Laina Dougan.

Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Thursday, April 20th at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Wednesday 4 – 7 p.m. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
