Albert C. Cosgrove, age 83, of Wollaston, formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Carney Hospital in Dorchester, surrounded by his loving family.
Al was born in Medford to the late William J. and Doris R. (Olson) Cosgrove. He was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Dorchester High School. He had lived in Quincy for fifty years, previously in Dorchester.
He was employed as an electrician with the MBTA for forty years and was a proud member of Local 103. Al was a Korean War veteran having served as an airman 1/c with the U.S. Air Force.
He loved gardening and was an avid Boston sports fan, especially of the New England Patriots. Al was devoted to his family, especially to his grandchildren and great granddaughter, supporting all their many activities and accomplishments.
Beloved husband for sixty years of Janice E. (Murphy) Cosgrove. Devoted father of John C. Cosgrove of Quincy, the late Joseph W. Cosgrove and his wife Patricia A. (Sylvia) Cosgrove of Falmouth. Loving Papa of John T. Cosgrove and Olivia A. Cosgrove. Cherished great grand Papa of Mila R. Cosgrove. Brother of Doris Gigante and her husband Dino of Hingham, William Cosgrove and his wife Nora of Quincy and Raymond Cosgrove of Quincy. Al is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Tuesday, April 17th at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock Street, Wollaston at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the funeral home on Monday 4 – 7 p.m. Interment with Military Honors at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
