Dorothy F. (Dowd) Marini, age 91, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at John Adams HealthCare Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born, raised and educated in Weymouth. She was a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1944. She had lived in Quincy for seventy years. Dorothy worked as a medical secretary in the Quincy office of Dr. Geoffrey M. Habershaw for ten years. She retired in 1994.
She was a member of the Ward 4 Senior Citizens Group and 1000 Southern Artery Senior Citizens Center. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and yoga. She also enjoyed travelling, especially vacationing with her family on Cape Cod, trips to Bermuda and attending her late husband’s World War II reunions throughout the country. Dorothy was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren.
Beloved wife for sixty-six years of the late Harry A. Marini, Lieutenant, Quincy Fire Department, Retired. Devoted mother of Kathleen A. Morganella and her husband Joseph of Weymouth, Gail M. Haskell and her late husband Kenneth of Weymouth, and Paul L. Marini and his longtime friend Nella Townsend of Quincy. Loving grandmother of six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dear sister George Dowd, Jr. of Weymouth and the late Pauline Warwel.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy on Friday, June 15th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave., Quincy, prior to the Mass from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
