Arthur Cameron Porter, Jr., 88, of Quincy (Squantum), passed away peacefully on September 19, 2018.
Devoted husband to the late Joan (Reddington) Porter of Chelsea and loving father to Pamela Porter and her husband Stephen Leary of N. Marshfield, Cameron Porter and his wife Christine Goodreau of Hingham, Jill Porter Walsh and her husband Joe Walsh of Bridgewater, and Janice Porter and her husband, Karl DeBisschop of Squantum. He was cherished by his 12 grandchildren: Kelsey, Kailey, Erin, Zack, Samantha, and Luke Walsh; Arthur Cameron IV, Alec, and Kevin Porter; and Curtis, Stephen, and Ben DeBisschop. He is also survived by his beloved sister Dorothy and her husband Charles Circeo and their children and grandchildren, as well as by several dear cousins.
Arthur loved to share stories of the many places he traveled while working at Major Theatre Equipment, which he co-owned beginning in 1953. Although officially retired, he continued to be active in the business and enjoyed consulting with his son, who continues to run the company.
He will be remembered for his genuine interest in others and his sharp mind and jovial sense of humor.
Visiting hours will be held at Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave, Quincy on October 20 from 12 to 2 p.m.
