Quincy’s Grace Hobin plays strong defense on an Hanover opponent in the Presidents’ 51-42 win over the Indians Jan. 4 at QHS. With the win, Quincy improved to 4-1 in the Patriot League (6-2 overall.) Despite a solid defensive effort, Quincy struggled to hit shots early on and went into the half trailing 20-21. The drought continued for both teams in the third as Hanover took a 29-28 lead into the fourth. Quincy’s relentless pressure defense finally began to pay off on the fourth as they forced several turnovers and started attacking the rim. Brenna Tobin helped to spark the run drawing fouls and converting on 6 of her 8 FT attempts in the period. It was back to back clutch three pointers by team captains Ally McMorrow and Gia Calabro that finally allowed Quincy to pull away with the victory at home. Quincy Sun Photo/Robert Bosworth
