A Sunday morning kitchen fire caused between $75,000 and $100,000 in damage to a Quincy Center apartment building.
The fire began in an eighth-floor apartment inside the building at 1025 Hancock St. An alarm inside the building sounded around 7:45 a.m. Sunday morning. The building was evacuated because of the fire.
The woman who was living inside the apartment was able to make it out safely, and firefighters were able to rescue her dog.
Fire damage was contained to the one apartment, while smoke and water damaged other floors.
Firefighters had yet to determine the cause of the single-alarm fire as of early Monday.
