Catherine Connolly, 91

Catherine “Kitty” (Connolly) Connolly, age 91, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, June 5, 2021 at her home at Compass on the Bay in Boston.

Catherine was born in Letterard East, Cashel, County Galway, Ireland. Raised and educated there, she immigrated to the United States in the early 1950s and had lived in Newton and Dorchester before moving to Quincy where she resided for fifty-five years.

Kitty was a devoted homemaker. After raising her family, she returned to work in various capacities until her retirement.

She loved to travel, and especially enjoyed cruises to the Panama Canal, Caribbean, Nova Scotia, Bermuda, and Alaska. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed bowling and playing Bingo.

Beloved wife for sixty-five years of the late Joseph Connolly. Devoted mother of Barbara Atwater and her husband Randy of Winter Park, Colo., Joseph Connolly of Quincy, Elizabeth Ouellette and her husband Denis of Quincy, Bridget Greenwald and her husband Scott of East Boston, John Connolly of Quincy, Judith Flaherty of Weymouth and her late husband Michael, and Kathy McNeice and her husband Michael of Marshfield.

Loving grandmother of Paul and Jennifer Ouellette, Victoria and Laura Greenwald, and Shawn and Lilli McNeice.

One of eleven siblings, she was the dear sister of Thomas Connolly of Medford, Matthew Connolly of Paignton, Devon, England, Jimmy Connolly of Quincy, Margaret Craven of Lewiston, Maine, and was predeceased by Mary Agustino, Julia O’Donnell, Sean, Patrick, Joseph, and Eddy Connolly.

Kitty is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Thursday, June 10, from 4 – 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, on Friday, June 11, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
