Nancy Kilduff

Nancy Kilduff (Doherty), of Milton, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully on September 27th surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy Kilduff

Daughter of the late Marion and Edward Doherty. Beloved wife of the late Dennis Kilduff. Loving mother of Kathryn and her husband, Timothy Burns, of Quincy; Thomas Kilduff, and his partner, Mauricio Rojas, of London; and Sean Kilduff of Milton. Proud and doting Nanny to Sean, Emily and Maggie Burns. Cherished sister of Edward and Sheila Doherty, of Hingham; and the late John Doherty and his partner, Maria D’Innocenzo, of Quincy; Paul and Ann Doherty, of Dunedin, Florida; Patricia and Jack McCarthy, of Marshfield; Elizabeth O’Brien of Weymouth; Barbara and Steve Canavan, of Weymouth; and Thomas Doherty, of Buzzards Bay. Nancy is also the sister -in-law of Sister Margaret Kilduff, R.S.C.J. of Brighton. She was predeceased by her lifelong friend Karen Mahoney, whose friendship remained an important part of her life.

Nancy graduated from Cathedral High School in 1961. After high school, she answered a calling to religious life and joined the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, where she spent six years serving others.

After leaving the convent, Nancy continued her education at Maryland General Hospital and went on to earn her RN from St. Joseph’s College in Maine. Nursing became a meaningful part of her life, and for the majority of her working years, Nancy cared for the elderly as a nurse at Frank Wood Convalescence Home. She was deeply respected by her colleagues for her dedication, compassion, and tireless care of her patients.

It was also at Frank Wood that Nancy formed some of her most cherished lifelong friendships. Her friends and former colleagues from Frank Wood became affectionately known as the “Woodies.” The bond they shared remained very dear to Nancy throughout her life, bringing her many years of laughter, love, and treasured memories.

Nancy will be lovingly remembered for her generous heart, thoughtfulness, and genuine empathy. She was always there for her family and friends and never forgot a birthday or special occasion, sending cards by mail with a little cash or scratch tickets. These small gestures were her special way of letting those she loved know she was thinking of them.

Nancy loved cheering on her grandchildren (Sean, Emily and Maggie) in all they did. She looked forward to their dance recitals, Nutcracker performances, soccer games, and every opportunity to watch them shine. Their accomplishments brought her so much joy and pride.

Nancy especially enjoyed trips to the casino with family and friends. She loved the excitement of the slots, the anticipation of getting the bonus, and, of course, the thrill of hitting it big! Those casino trips created countless memories filled with laughter, excitement, and time spent together with the people she loved.

Nancy’s kindness, compassion, strength, and generous spirit touched so many lives. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
